MRS B-G

About Mrs B-G

I am a Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant with over 7 years’ experience in helping Primary children achieve their full potential. I follow the National Curriculum, but like to incorporate any interests a child has, so that they are fully engaged in the lesson. I use humour and creativity to ensure lessons are always fun and upbeat.  I am DBS checked and cleared and First Aid trained.

Special Educational Needs

I have extensive experience working with children with Special Education Needs. I have also worked with the visually impaired. I use empathy, patience, and humour to encourage learning. I work at the child’s preferred pace initially, using their interests as a tool to engage them, and then we work together to create attainable goals.

I differentiate the National Curriculum to suit ability and have access to extensive resources to assist with our lessons. I am trained to run emotional coaching sessions, such as The Zones of Regulation and The Homunculi Approach. These programs teach social and emotional resilience through fun and engaging activities.

COVID and Tutoring

During these uncertain times, I am conscious of the need for consistency in a child’s education. Being a Mother myself, I know children are living through unsettling times, and this can have an impact on their emotional state. Now, more than ever, I like to establish a good professional relationship with the child, and their family, working together to support the child not only in their education, but also their mental wellbeing.

Online Learning

To participate in online learning, your child will need a desk top computer, laptop, or tablet with a good internet connection. I use Zoom, but any face-to-face video call app can be used.

How Does It Work

I offer a free 15-minute Zoom call with your child so we can meet and have a chat before lessons begin. I use this time to find out any interests your child might have so that I may incorporate these into their lessons. The day before lessons are scheduled, I will email any resources required so that your child will have everything they need. The first lesson will take the form of a very informal assessment, so that I can see where your child is and plan their lessons accordingly. Lessons will be tailor made for your child so that they make the best possible progress. I recommend half hour lessons for younger children as I have seen they learn better online during a shorter period. Lessons for older children will be an hour.

If you are looking to employ a tutor then I have no hesitancy in recommending Mrs B-G. I have worked with her for over 5 years within a school setting in my role as Deputy Head Teacher.

Mrs B-G has an excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum and knows exactly what to do to prepare children for the KS2 SATs. Also, helping them to do well and prepare them for the next stage of their education.

Relationships are a real strength for Mrs B-G; she communicates well with parents/carers, keeping them fully informed of their child’s progress and needs. Her fun, enthusiastic and positive manner means she also builds excellent relationships with her pupils, useful for engaging even the most reluctant learner“.
